Getaway

Everyone deserves a getaway. We must strive to break the precedent set of coloring in the lines and paint ferociously with passion like Jackson Pollock. We must also learn to separate ourselves from the chains of the everyday work routine and escape our confined prisons they call cubicles.

"We all deserve to getaway, for our bodies and for our minds, and finally we have our chance."

Our future selves will speak little about the times we worked overtime, or worked on weekends. Our stories will describe our eagerness to explore, and the times we deviated from the routine. We all deserve to getaway, for our bodies and for our minds, and finally we have our chance.

Getaway House promises an experience to escape the grind of the urban lifestyle. It puts you directly in the middle of nature with only the necessary amenities; electricity, hot plates, running water, and the not to be trifled with, space age technology toilet. Getaway's modernized cabins are comfortable and stylish yet blend into the natural and tranquil landscape that surrounds them.

"It was quickly apparent that living this minimal lifestyle was not only achievable, but it became desirable."

You are given everything you need except the very things that distract us in our everyday lives. Our cabin, Columbia was a home away from home. It was quickly apparent that living this minimal lifestyle was not only achievable, but it became desirable. We realized that a life led simply can be a life lived fully.

Each morning we drank black hot coffee. We toasted buttery rye bread and covered it with creamy smashed avocado. The steam from the kettle fogged up the window that stretched along the counter while the trees, standing tall outside, fell out of focus. We read comfortably in bed. We gazed at the snowfall as it covered the forest floor. Outside we trekked through the woods and when the cold was too much to bare, we lit a fire. Soon enough, the warmth soothed our hands and toes back to mobility. Our clothes smelled of charred wood as we grilled spicy Italian sausages over a warm bed of coals. We bathed crispy peppers and chopped onions with a thin coat of olive oil and wrapped it all up in aluminum foil to throw on the flames of the fire. We ate inside lavishing in our culinary accomplishments. As our bellies filled, we enjoyed the peace and serenity through our giant windows that lined our cabin. In our sedated state we rewarded ourselves with a cold and bitter Saranac IPA and plucked soft melodies on our guitars.

It’s far too easy to let our lives become complicated with unnecessary problems. I am also guilty of this charge. Regardless of the weight we feel on our shoulders, we can escape its clutches. It is time to break free and explore the life of simplicity. Getaway House will bring you back down to reality. This experience will show you what is and what is not important in our daily lives. If you have forgotten how simple reality is…maybe its time to Getaway.
